What does a good night look like?

A wall of snaps taken by members across the seasons, each shared with the say-so of everyone in the frame, and none of them staged on purpose.

Wall of snaps

Tables, boxes and small triumphs

A crowd around a big table on finals night, watching the last turns of a close game
The club room late in the evening with lamps on and half the tables still in use
Two players concentrating on a screen, controllers in hand, during a console afternoon
Two members laughing over a pair of controllers on a sofa in the club room
About these pictures

Who took them?

Every photo here was taken by a member, usually mid-turn and almost never on purpose. We ask permission before anything goes on the wall, and if you spot yourself and would rather not, tell a volunteer and the picture comes down that week. No explanation needed, and no hard feelings.

We tend to photograph boards, hands and finished games more than faces. It's partly manners and partly because a board at the end of a good game tells a better story than a posed smile. A board with a dozen tiny tokens in exactly the wrong place says more about the evening than any group photo could.

If you've got a favourite snap from a night at the hub, send it to the group chat or to the email address on the contact page, and Alison will pick the best for the wall.

Our favourite pictures aren't the sharpest. They're the ones where someone is laughing off to one side of the frame, the board is a mess, and the kettle is just visible in the corner, steaming away.
