Ready to join the Mob?
It's free, it takes about two minutes, and a real person will write back with a night to try and a table to sit at.
Tell us who you are
We only use these details to write back to you and to plan the tables, as the privacy page explains. Leave any optional box blank if you like.
The first thing we ask every newcomer is whether they'd like a cup of tea. The second is whether they'd like to be taught or left alone. Both answers are fine.
Is there anything I should know?
Do I have to bring a game?
No. The shelf holds hundreds of boxes, and everyone borrows. If you'd like to bring a favourite, a volunteer will happily add it for the night.
What if I'm useless at board games?
Then you'll fit right in. Most of us were. The Tuesday teachers have taught people who had never rolled a die, and every one of them came back.
Can I come along before I join?
Of course. Turn up on any open night, say hello to whoever's at the door, and stay as long as you like. Joining puts you on the list for the leagues, lets you take a box home for a week and brings the odd note about changes.
From form to first game
We write back
A volunteer replies within a few days. The email suggests a night, tells you where to park and names the person who'll meet you at the door.
You turn up
Arrive any time after doors open. Someone will hand you a cup of tea, point out the shelf and find you a game that suits your mood.
You play a round
A teacher explains the rules and sits in for the first round. After that it's yours, and you can stay for the evening or slip away early.
