Cookies for members

The site is deliberately light on cookies. Here's the list, then a few paragraphs on how to take back control of them.

The list

The explanation

How it all works

What cookies are

A cookie is a small note a website asks your browser to keep. Browsers also have a similar tool called local storage. We use only that, and only for the two answers above, so strictly speaking our own pages set no cookies at all. Neither answer ever leaves your device.

Switched off until you say

Until you press accept, optional storage is denied by default, and the cookie banner records nothing about analytics or advertising because there is none to record. The site works exactly the same whether or not you agree, and nothing is hidden behind the banner.

Analytics tags

We don't run any analytics at present. Should that change, we'd add the tags behind the same switch, tell members in the chat and update this page and the table above before the first one loads.

The map on the contact page

The map loads as soon as that page opens, with no waiting for a click. It comes from Google, which may set cookies of its own. Those fall under Google's policy, not ours, and the street address printed beside the map works in any navigation app if you'd rather skip it.

The kinds of cookie in play

Of the usual kinds, only the necessary type applies to our own pages, and it is only a pair of reminders. Anything else you might meet comes from the map provider. The other usual kinds, the ones that remember your preferences or measure how many people visited, are not used here at all, and we would tell you plainly before that changed.

Changing your mind

Clear this site's data in your browser settings and both answers vanish; you'll see the age question and the banner again on your next visit. You can also tell your browser to block cookies from the map provider and still use everything else on the site. If you have questions, write to hello@meeplemob.com and a volunteer will explain, in words rather than jargon, what each item is doing and how to remove it.
